Through both published and ongoing research, I am interested in how individuals make meaning of adversity and how psychological resources can support healing, growth, and personal evolution.

The impact of self-efficacy and optimism on Melbourne business owners’ post-traumatic growth post-pandemic: A gendered perspective

This quantitative study explored the relationship between self-efficacy, optimism, and post-traumatic growth among Melbourne business owners following the Covid-19 pandemic. The findings indicated a significant positive relationship between general self-efficacy and post-traumatic growth, while optimism showed a weaker association. Age and gender also contributed to this relationship, highlighting the importance of psychological resources during adversity and recovery.

Optimism reflects an attitude of hopefulness and the expectation that positive outcomes can be reached through perseverance, effort, and possibility.

Post-traumatic growth describes the positive psychological transformation that can emerge through the struggle with adversity, trauma, or major life disruption.
